Morgane and Ninon: internship

Hello !

We are two students in first year of city planning and tourism development studies at the institute of technology, Périgueux (France). For our universitary cursus, we have to go abroad for an intership of 8 weeks.

Here we are, from July, 3^rd to August 27^th, working in Chennai (at the NGO office) and in Thirumullaivoyal at the Little Angels School.

When we arrived at the school, children found us intriguind but stayed studious.

We spend three days a week at the school where we are organizing a lot of games and activities with the children. We also work at the night school.

Nowadays, India is facing an important environemental issue. It is why we decided to make the children aware about separating the rubbish and recycling.

We will set up a system of household-waste sorting with several dustbins and made an organic compost which will permit to create a vegetable garden.

We explained our project to the teachers and prepared some activities in order to make this project understandable for children in a playing way.

We would like to present our project to the parents and make it apply in the village.

Anand, who assist at the school and at the office, started to prepare the place where we will build the compost box and make the vegetable garden, he is really involved in this project.

Teachers and school assistants asked us to help them to improve their englis. So, each day, after school time, we are talking for one hour about various subjects and it helps them to become more fluent and understandable in english.

The rest of the week we work in several subjects : presentation of a solar project in Andhra Pradesh, communication and organization of an event in France.

For the solar project we prepared a workshop with four posters which will permit to the villagers to understand fully and easily the project and to appropriate it. We will go three days in several villages to present our superbs posters !

The event we organize is a three days event (March 2013). The goal of this project is to introduce the NGO to the public and raise some funds. We are working on this project with two others students of our institute.

During those three days, there will be concert, projection of short movies and debates, lectures. The public will be able to eat typical meals from India and also walk through a little 'local colors' market!
